Setting up a home-audio or home-theater system requires careful attention to speaker positioning, to achieve the best sound. Once the speakers are in place, you need to run speaker back to the amplifier to make your connections. Most speaker wire consists of two strands joined together side by side, encased in a tough insulating material. Outdoor speaker wire often adds a protective outer shield, as well. Before you can connect the wires to your amp and speakers, you'll need to separate and strip the ends.
