How to Add Pictures to a Gmail Message

by Angela M. Wheeland

Adding pictures to an email message is a fast, reliable method to share priceless memories with the ones you love -- or anyone else in your contact list. Like most email accounts, Gmail allows users to insert pictures directly into an email message. When the recipient opens the email message, the picture will display immediately -- no need to save and open an attachment. To insert pictures in your Gmail messages, you must enable the Labs feature in the Gmail settings.

Log in to your Gmail account and click "Settings." You can find this link in the upper-right corner of your inbox.

Click the "Labs" tab and scroll down the page until you locate the "Inserting Images" heading. Click "Enable" and then click "Save Changes."

Click "Compose Mail" and enter the recipient's email address.

Click the "Insert Image" button below the Subject line. This button contains an image of a scenic picture.

Click the "My Computer" radio button to choose a picture from your computer or click the "Web Address (URL) radio button to insert an image's Web address.

Click "Browse" to browse your computer for a picture or enter the Web address of the picture. Click the "OK" button when the upload is complete.

Enter a message and subject line, and click "Send" to send the picture.
