BitTorrent is a free peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing utility you can use to download hundreds of thousands of audio files from users who share them. Although BitTorrent users sometimes share copyrighted material, downloading copyrighted songs with BitTorrent is illegal. You must download only songs that are copyright-free. You can get songs from BitTorrent to iTunes and play them back using the media player or even transfer them to your portable device later.

Launch BitTorrent, then click the "Torrents" link to view all songs that you've downloaded on your computer.

Right-click the song that you want to transfer to iTunes, then choose "Open Containing Folder" from the context menu to open Windows Explorer.

Click the song you want to transfer to iTunes and press "Ctrl-C" to copy it to the clipboard. Hold "Ctrl" and click multiple items to select more songs at once or press "Ctrl-A" to select all items in the folder.

Launch iTunes and select "Music" from the Library section of the left pane. You can also select one of your playlists from the Playlists section.

Press "Ctrl-V" to copy the song from BitTorrent to iTunes. Double-click the song to start playing it.

Tip

  • The songs must be fully downloaded before you can play them back in iTunes.
