How to Stop Pop-Ups on My Laptop

Pop-up advertisements can be annoying when you are trying to surf the Web on your laptop. They can also be a drain on system resources, resulting in a system that is sluggish and unresponsive. You can easily stop them on your laptop with a couple of clicks.

Internet Explorer 7 and 8

Start your Internet Explorer.

Hit "Tools" in the main menu bar.

Click "Pop-up Blocker" in the menu. Click "Turn On Pop-up Blocker."

Restart your Internet Explorer.


Start your Firefox browser.

Hit "Tools" in the main menu bar.

Select "Options" in the menu that appears. Hit the "Content" tab. Place a check mark next to "Block pop-up windows."

Restart your Firefox browser.
