How to Use Excite Email Through Microsoft Outlook

by John Granby

Microsoft Outlook enables users to access more than just Microsoft Exchange email accounts. You are able to access additional email accounts using the POP3 or IMAP protocols, which are used by other email providers such as Excite. Using the POP email settings defined by Excite, you can enable access to your account using Outlook so you can check your personal email along with your company Exchange account.

Launch Microsoft Outlook. Click "File" followed by "Add Account" in the "Info" tab.

Click the option button next to "Manually configure server settings or additional server types," and click "Next."

Click the option next to "Internet Email" and then click "Next."

Enter your name and your full Excite email address in the "Personal Information" section.

Select "POP3" in the "Account Type:" drop-down menu.

Enter "" in the "Incoming mail server:" field, and enter "" in the "Outgoing mail server:" field.

Enter your full Excite email address as your username, and supply your password in the appropriate field.

Click the "More Settings" button, and then click the "Outgoing server" tab. Click the option next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."

Click the "Advanced" tab. Click the check box next to "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" followed by "OK."

Click "Next," and Outlook will connect to your Excite email account.
